Information about asbestos and the safety of our play sand

Bol.com has temporarily taken all sand products offline. This is a standard measure while they review test reports.

We have submitted the required test report to bol.com for review. Once this review is complete, our products will be listed online again.

Because bol.com is currently reviewing many products and reports, this process may take some time. We are closely monitoring progress and expect our products to be available again as soon as possible.

Update 'asbestos found in play sand'

There's been news coverage recently about asbestos being found in some types of play sand. We understand that this raises questions and concerns among parents. After all, safe play is paramount.

At Sand Mania, we take product safety very seriously. Our kinetic play sand is made from washed quartz sand, specifically designed for children. This sand isn't loose or dusty decorative sand, but a bonded play product that produces less dust during play.

Our play sand has been specifically tested for the presence of asbestos in accordance with European regulations. No asbestos was found. Furthermore, the product complies with European toy standards (EN 71) and is CE marked, meaning it meets the legal requirements for toys within the European Union.

Our production and testing takes place at our regular suppliers and laboratories. The fact that some of these are located outside of Europe is very common in the toy industry: a large portion of toys and creative products are produced and tested this way worldwide, in accordance with European standards. What matters to us is how testing is done and what regulations apply, not where a laboratory is physically located.

We consciously choose to be transparent. That's why we're happy to share our information and answer questions personally.
